It is too large for most kinds of carry, and actually probably too powerful to be a great personal defense round. I would guess that a .454 Casull is about the biggest handgun caliber that might be truly useful to many people -- as it could be used to hunt deer and might protect you from a grizzly bear, yet could likely be carried more like a sidearm than the .600 nitro.
