Chess for three involves a different approach to board design,
as well as playing technique and strategies.
Particular attention should also be applied to the center of the board,
where knights tend to get tangled in a rather intricate web.
The most difficult concept to get accustomed to, is the introduction
of another player, thus, the ‘extra’ move by the third player.
The moves in the center of the board may tend to be confusing also,
so, we’ll discuss some of the possibilities of plays at the board’s center.
Because the board for three players is made up of three halves,
angled appropriately, the Queen and bishop have the ability to
traverse the board across the center on the diagonal. The Queen may not,
however, travel straight across from black to white in a
diagonal move through the center.

I love this idea… did you made the board yourself? And about the horse, it should be able to go one to the front and two to the left or the right. On a traditional board it is the same, but on this kind of board there is a difference.

Hey nice site. Anyways chess tips. To become good one must learn from ones one mistakes And successes. Chess analysis pro 7000 I found very useful in helping my chess development. I’d recommend it. Next keep the pressure on. And learn to hold the tension on the board instead of running out of tension with no advantage gained.

right, confusion, and also one left and two (up?), to top left player’s G4, as well as you said to top right player’s H3. but why shouldn’t the queen be permitted to a full sweep of the board? it’s one of her signature powers. if you’re going to keep all of the other rules the same other than HAVING THREE PLAYERS ON A CRAZY ASS BOARD, then let’s keep that as well, you can shuffle the queen around in triangles. I think. Jeez, regular chess is complicated enough.

You can’t have “three halves”.

It’s easier do and play one for 4 players.

i really like it but i think the horse is able to do that to, at least in classic chess the horse can go one to the right or left and two front or back so it could go to this two other spots:
