Chess Playing Robot

Del Hatch made a big splash again this year with his chess playing robot, which uses an off-the-shelf sensory chess board and robot arm together with the open-source chess engine GNUChess.

The interface for playing chess against a computer is poor. Real chess involves moving pieces on a board, not icons on a screen.
It is hard to find computerized chess boards that actually move the computer’s piece, so I started this project to create a system that provides natural game play, using a robot arm
